JEWELRY DESIGN AND DIGITAL COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course introduces students to the fundamentals of jewelry design, blending creativity, craftsmanship, and digital design. Students will learn how to conceptualize, design, and create their own jewelry pieces using a variety of materials, techniques, and digital tools. The course covers essential skills such as drawing jewelry designs, understanding color and form, selecting materials, working with basic jewelry-making tools, and exploring 3D jewelry modeling using Rhino. By the end of the course, students will have developed a strong foundation in jewelry design and be able to create original jewelry pieces that reflect their personal style, both by hand and digitally. WHAT THEY WILL LEARN:

• Overview of jewelry design history and evolution.
• Exploring different jewelry styles, trends, and cultural influences.
• Understanding the principles of design: balance, proportion, contrast, rhythm, and unity.
• Introduction to jewelry sketches and technical drawings.
• Understanding color theory, materials, textures, and finishes.
• Introduction to common jewelry-making materials and basic tools.
• Designing and sketching original jewelry pieces.
• Exploring basic jewelry-making techniques and creating a handmade jewelry piece.
• Refining designs through textures, finishes, and decorative embellishments.
• Introduction to Rhino 3D interface and basic modeling tools.
• Understanding 3D modeling fundamentals and creating basic shapes and curves.
• Designing simple jewelry using Rhino.
