- COURSE DESCRIPTION:
- This course introduces aspiring designers to the fundamentals of shoe design, focusing on sketching, conceptualization, and creative development. Students will explore different types of footwear, learn how to sketch accurate shoe proportions, and develop original shoe concepts based on trends, function, and personal style. Through hands-on exercises, they will refine their drawing techniques, experiment with materials and textures, and create a mini shoe collection. By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in footwear design and a portfolio of unique shoe sketches.

- Module 1: Introduction to Shoe Design & Inspiration
- The evolution of footwear: history and modern trends
- Understanding different shoe styles (sneakers, heels, boots, sandals, etc.)
- Finding inspiration: fashion, culture, art, and nature
- Understanding the anatomy of a shoe
- Learning proportions and perspectives for different shoe types
- Freehand sketching techniques
- Practicing line work, shading, and detailing
- Exploring different materials
- Rendering textures and patterns
- Creating functional and fashion-forward shoe designs
- Understanding foot ergonomics and comfort in design
- Experimenting with embellishments, prints, and color palettes
- Storytelling through design: theme, inspiration, and market appeal
- Refining sketches and detailing technical aspects
- Conceptualizing brand identity through shoe design
- Preparing a professional shoe design presentation
- Annotating sketches with materials, colors, and construction details
- Assembling a digital or hand-drawn footwear portfolio
- Final showcase: presenting a unique shoe collection
