 COURSE DESCRIPTION:

    This course is designed for creative teens who want to explore the art of jewelry design through sketching, conceptualization, and design thinking. Students will learn how to develop original jewelry concepts, and sketch detailed designs. They will explore the fundamentals of design principles, shape and form, color theory, and material selection. Through hands-on exercises, they will refine their drawing techniques and develop cohesive collections. By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in jewelry illustration and design, preparing them for future crafting or professional pursuits.
COURSE OUTLINE For Teens: Module 1: Introduction to Jewelry Design & Inspiration
  • Understanding jewelry as an art form and means of self-expression
  • Exploring historical and contemporary jewelry styles
  • Finding inspiration
Module 2: Sketching & Jewelry Illustration Basics
  • Introduction to jewelry sketching techniques
  • Drawing different types of jewelry: rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets
  • Understanding proportions, symmetry, and scale in jewelry sketches
  • Practicing freehand sketching and shading for depth
Module 3: Developing Unique Design Concepts
  • Transforming ideas into jewelry designs
  • Experimenting with geometric and organic forms
  • Creating multiple variations of a design
Module 4: Understanding Materials & Textures Through Sketching
  • How different materials influence jewelry design
  • Rendering metal finishes
  • Sketching gemstones with facets and reflections
  • Creating texture and depth in design drawings
Module 5: Designing a Jewelry Collection
  • Creating a theme and story for a jewelry line
  • Sketching a three-piece mini collection
