COURSE DESCRIPTION:
    This course introduces students to the fundamentals of jewelry design, blending creativity with craftsmanship. Students will learn how to conceptualize, design, and create their own jewelry pieces using a variety of materials and techniques. The course will cover essential skills such as drawing jewelry designs, understanding color and form, selecting materials, and working with basic tools. By the end of the course, students will have developed a strong foundation in jewelry design and be able to create their own pieces that reflect their personal style.
  COURSE OUTLINE:
    Module 1: Introduction to Jewelry Design
  • Evolution of jewelry across cultures
  • Famous designers and influential styles
  • Role of jewelry in personal and cultural expression
  Module 2: Design Principles & Sketching Basics
  • Design principles: balance, proportion, rhythm, unity, contrast

  Module 3: Color & Materials Exploration
  • Color wheel, harmonies, and symbolism in jewelry
  • Experimenting with color combinations in sketches
  Module 4: Jewelry Drawing
  • Drawing Jewelry in 2D & 3D
  • Orthographic views: top, front, side
  Module 5: Perspective basics for rings, pendants, and bracelets
  • Shading and rendering metals and gems
  Module 6: Rendering Techniques for Metals and Stones
  • Pencil, markers, colored pencil rendering
  • Light reflections on gold, silver, gemstones
  Module 7: Materials and Tools
  • Types of materials: beads, metals, wires, clay, stones
  • Safe handling and use of pliers, cutters, files, etc.
  Module 8: Design to Creation
  • Translate sketch to project
  • Introduction to basic making techniques
  Module 9: Texture, Finishes & Embellishment
  • Adding dimension with texture: hammering, embossing, layering
  • Use of charms, pendants, beads, thread
  Module 10: Final Project Design
  • Plan a new piece using everything learned
  • Sketching, materials list, and preparation
  Module 11: Complete Final Project
  • Continue working on final project
