COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course explores the art of decorating and styling a studio space, focusing on creative layouts, mood board development, and aesthetic decoration. Students will learn how to transform small spaces into functional, stylish interiors by understanding design principles, color palettes, furniture placement, and décor selection. Through hands-on activities, they will create mood boards, experiment with different styles, and curate design elements to bring their vision to life. By the end of the course, students will have the skills to design, style, and personalize a studio space, making it both visually appealing and practical.

Module 1: Introduction to Interior Design & Studio Spaces

• Understanding interior design principles (balance, harmony, proportion, etc.)
• The unique challenges and opportunities of decorating small spaces
• Exploring different interior styles

  Module 2: Creating a Mood Board & Concept Development

• What is a mood board, and why is it essential?
• Gathering inspiration: color schemes, textures, and themes
• Digital vs. physical mood boards: tools and techniques
• Presenting and refining design concepts

  Module 3: Space Planning & Layout for Studio Apartments

• Maximizing functionality in compact spaces
• Zoning: defining living, sleeping, and work areas
• Smart furniture choices: multipurpose and space-saving solutions
• Using lighting to enhance mood and space perception

  Module 4: Color Theory & Material Selection

• Understanding the impact of colors on mood and space perception
• Selecting the right paint, wallpaper, and textures
• Mixing materials: wood, metal, glass, and textiles

  Module 5: Furniture & Décor Styling

• Choosing the right furniture for different design styles
• Accessorizing with rugs, cushions, curtains, and wall art
