COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed for aspiring interior designers and creative individuals who want to develop their sketching and conceptualization skills for interior spaces. Students will learn how to translate design ideas into hand-drawn sketches, explore perspective drawing, and effectively communicate interior layouts and aesthetics. The course covers freehand sketching, shading techniques, color rendering, and spatial composition, enabling students to visualize interiors with confidence.

 

COURSE OUTLINE:

Module 1: Introduction to Interior Design Sketching

• The importance of sketching in interior design
• Understanding different sketching techniques (freehand, technical, artistic)
• Exploring styles: quick sketches vs. detailed renderings
• Essential tools: pencils, markers, and digital sketching

  Module 2: Understanding Perspective & Space

• Basics of one-point, two-point, and three-point perspective
• Sketching room interiors with depth and proportion
• Drawing furniture and architectural elements in perspective

  Module 3: Conceptualization & Idea Development

• Finding inspiration and defining a design concept
• Translating ideas into rough interior sketches

  Module 4: Shading, Textures & Rendering

• Adding depth and realism through shading techniques
• Experimenting with color and contrast for visual impact
• Using light and shadow to enhance sketches

  Module 5: Sketching Interior Elements & Details

• Drawing furniture, lighting, and décor elements
• Creating visually balanced compositions with accessories and styling
• Layering textures and patterns for a complete design look

  Module 6: How to present design ideas effectively through sketches

• Combining floor plans, elevations, and perspective drawings
• Annotating sketches with design notes and material choices

  Module 7: Final Project & Portfolio Development

• Developing a complete interior sketch presentation
