COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed for aspiring interior designers and artists who want to enhance their creative drawing and painting skills while mastering perspective techniques for interior spaces. Students will explore freehand sketching, perspective drawing, color rendering, and artistic painting methods to visualize and communicate interior design concepts effectively. The course covers one-point, two-point, and three-point perspective, material rendering, and creative painting techniques to bring depth, texture, and realism to interior sketches. By the end of the course, students will have the ability to illustrate expressive interior spaces, making their designs more compelling and visually engaging.

COURSE OUTLINE:

Module 1: Fundamentals of Interior Design Drawing

• Understanding the role of drawing and painting in interior design
• Exploring different drawing styles: freehand, technical, and artistic sketches
• Introduction to tools: pencils, inks, watercolors, and markers
• Basics of line weight, shading, and composition

Module 2: Perspective Drawing for Interior Spaces

• One-point, two-point, and three-point perspective techniques
• Creating depth and proportion in interior spaces
• Sketching room layouts, furniture, and architectural elements in perspective
• Developing expressive and realistic interior compositions

Module 3: Color Theory & Painting Techniques for Interiors

• Understanding color psychology in interior design
• Mixing and applying colors for mood and atmosphere
• Watercolor, gouache, and marker techniques for painting interiors
• Creating gradients, shadows, and highlights for realistic depth

Module 4: Rendering Materials & Textures

• Sketching and painting wood, metal, fabric, and glass textures
• Capturing lighting effects and reflections in interior spaces
• Using brushstrokes and layering to create dimension
• Experimenting with abstract and realistic material rendering

Module 5: Artistic Visualization & Creative Expression

• Developing personal artistic style in interior design sketches
• Creating mood-driven illustrations for storytelling
• Combining sketching and painting for expressive concept visuals
• Experimenting with mixed media and collage techniques

Module 6: Designing & Illustrating Interior Spaces
