2. Elements of Fashion Design
•Color theory & fashion color trends
•Fabrics, textures, and how they influence design
•Hands-on: create a color/fabric collage
3. Drawing Foundations I – Fashion Figures
•Learn the 9-head croquis (fashion figure proportions)
•Practice quick figure sketches
•Homework: sketch 3 poses
4. Drawing Foundations II – Garment Sketching
•Drawing clothing on figures (tops, skirts, trousers)
•Shading & texture techniques for fabric
•Hands-on: sketch an outfit inspired by their mood board
5. Research & Concept Development
•How to research fashion history & trends
•Case study: a famous designer’s portfolio
•Start concept for their own mini collection
6. Collection Development I
•Designing a 3–5 outfit capsule collection
•Explore themes, colors, fabrics
•Thumbnail sketching & experimenting
7. Collection Development II
•Refining collection ideas
•Selecting best designs
•Hands-on: render 2–3 final outfit illustrations
8. Technical Flats & Specs
•Introduction to flat drawings (front, back views)
•Understanding basic garment construction
•Practice creating simple flats for one design
9. Textiles & Surface Design
•Exploring fabrics, prints, and textures
•DIY textile activity: design a print or textile sample (collage, digital, or hand-drawn)
10. Portfolio Layout & Visual Storytelling
•How to organize a portfolio (concept → sketches → final looks)
•Layout principles (balance, white space, flow)
•Begin arranging work for portfolio
11. Final Project Work Session I
•Students finalize illustrations & technical flats
•One-on-one teacher feedback
12. Final Project Work Session II
•Continue refining portfolio pages
•Add written statements & reflections

This way, students leave with a nice portfolio starter that can grow with them as they prepare for applications or personal projects.
Please note:
Our portfolio courses are offered in flexible hour packages 40, 50, 60, 80, or even 100+ hours to allow students to progress at their own pace. It’s important to understand that these hour packages are a guideline. Completing a high quality portfolio may sometimes take more longer than the initial 40 hours, and students are welcome to book additional sessions such as 50, 60, 80, or more hours if needed.
This way, each student can take the time they need to create a portfolio they’re truly proud of without feeling rushed.
