Course Description:
This creative and skill-building course introduces teens to the exciting world of jewelry design and modeling. Students will explore a variety of techniques including beading, clay modeling, wirework, and mixed media design. They’ll learn how to create personalized accessories that reflect their unique style and vision, while developing an understanding of color theory, pattern design, and material combinations.
Course Outline:Lesson 1: Introduction to Jewelry Design & Materials
Overview of jewelry design
Material and tool exploration: beads, wires, cords, clay, tools
Understanding the design process: mood boards and sketching
Lesson 2: Color Theory & Pattern Design in Accessories
Understanding color harmony, contrast, and personal style
Introduction to pattern creation: symmetrical, asymmetrical, layered
Lesson 3: Clay Modeling for Custom Jewelry Pieces
Techniques with air-dry or polymer clay: shaping, texturing, curing
Crafting pendants, beads, and statement components
Lesson 4: Wire Techniques & Jewelry Assembly
Basics of wirework: loops, hooks, jump rings, wrapping
Using pliers and findings professionally and safely
